Female speaker giving presentation in le

Community outreach

As a former Clinical Director in a psychiatric hospital, I have been speaking at community educational meetings to practicing social workers and medical clinicians about mental health issues, substance abuse, and the impact recent or past trauma has on the ability to cope with current problems.  Many of these meetings are for parents, teachers, guidance counselors and law enforcement—people from all walks of life who want to be better equipped to help others in need. My public mission as a social worker is to help inform concerned parents, educators and authorities about what to look for and to give them the information they need to identify individuals struggling with mental illness, substance abuse or addiction.

These problems impact all of us in some way and increased awareness will result in earlier intervention and the chance to get help for those who are desperate and living on the edge.

Call or email me to discuss a topic you are interested in learning more about, so we can schedule an informational meeting in your own neighborhood, school or library.

You would be surprised how people wrestling with these issues appreciate those who have some idea of how difficult it is to share their struggle and care enough to learn about them and help them find the appropriate care providers or resources to turn their lives around.

I also speak at public and private schools throughout Westchester County, and address such topics as boundaries, sexual consent, peer pressure and the constant temptation to experiment with drugs and alcohol. It sometimes takes an outsider to reach students inside a classroom.  I do presentations for parents, young men,  young women and coed groups. Call or email me to find out more or to book a presentation.

Success! Message received.
